The DCS-5222L is a relatively large network camera. Its design is in part dictated by its pan and tilt capabilities, which mean you have more flexibility in terms of placement compared to a fixed-angle camera. The camera essentially consists of two parts: a flat white base that allows the upper assembly to rotate, and the lens which sits inside a black spherical enclosure that can tilt vertically. You can set up the DCS-5222L using WPS, camera ip wireless so you just have to press the WPS button on the camera and on your router to make them pair. If your router doesn’t support WPS pairing you’ll need to first connect the DCS-5222L through an Ethernet cable. You can then run the PC application or use the mydlink lite app on Android or iOS to set the camera up. You can then enter your home network’s Wi-Fi details to use the camera wirelessly. As with the DCS-2332L, if you’re using a D-Link router than supports mydlink and zero configuration, you can plug the camera in with an Ethernet cable first and it will grab the wireless settings automatically.

The mydlink lite app can also take care of firmware upgrades, and one was immediately available for our camera once we’d installed it. The upgrade process took a few minutes, during which time the camera wasn’t operational, wireless camera so it’s a good idea to upgrade the firmware straight away.

The mydlink lite app doesn’t allow you full control over the camera’s functions, such as configuring the motion detection. Instead, you’ll need to use the browser-based configuration on your PC. This makes it much easier to accurately set the motion trigger points, and you can also set multiple detection zones. The camera can send you notifications, either as a push notification to your smart device or as an email to your registered account.

The DCS-5222L doesn’t have any cloud storage support. Instead, recorded footage is saved to a microSD card, although one isn’t supplied with the camera. As there’s no remote backup, there’s always the risk that a thief will simply remove the memory card if it’s within reach. You can set the camera to overwrite the oldest ip camera software saved clip when the memory card becomes full. If you want a backup, you’ll need to set up a Network Video Recorder using a PC – D-Link provides its own free D-ViewCam software for Windows. You can also save footage to an FTP server or NAS.

You can control the DCS-5222L remotely using either the mobile app or through your browser, allowing you to pan and tilt the lens to get a clearer view. You can either use on-screen directional controls or create a bounding box to aim the camera at different points. We found the camera to be highly responsive even when we were controlling it remotely. There was also only a very slight delay between what we saw from the live view and what was happening in reality

Flir FX FXV101-H Review

Video & Audio

Video captured during the daytime or in a well-lit area is always going to be higher quality than video captured in a dimly lit room, ip wifi camera but the Flir FX produced exceptional quality video compared to other IP cameras even in low lighting. Small details that were close to the camera, such as scuffs on a door and loose threads on fabric, were visible in the footage we captured during our testing. We could also see more details at a distance than with any other internet camera we tested.

In lower light, the Flir FX still performed well, but there was a slight loss in clarity. At night in total darkness, this Flir clearly displays objects close to the lens but struggles with those further away because its invisible LED lights illuminate a shorter distance than some of its competitors. We could still camera wifi make out details in video captured at night, but we couldn’t see much farther than about 10 feet from the camera.

At 1080p, the Flir FX has high video resolution, which means you see sharp images. The camera captures video at a frame rate of 30 fps, which is high enough that video plays back smoothly without choppiness or jumping. Another reason the Flir FX is one of the best wireless IP cameras we tested is it has one the widest fields of view, so you can see a large portion of the room you’re monitoring.

This IP camera has the standard features found on most IP cameras; for example, you can set the camera to record only when security camera it detects motion or sound. Flir FX takes this a step further: You can set what the company calls “smart zones” with the app. While viewing the area your camera covers on your smart device, you can select the specific spots you want the camera to monitor for motion. This is useful if you have pets that roam the house freely.

The Flir FX IP camera is easy to set up, but during our testing, we couldn’t use it right away, which was a slight inconvenience. The instructions state that you must charge the camera for at least 30 minutes before using it. This is because the Flir FX has two rechargeable batteries – you can use this camera anywhere, but only for about four hours at a time.

Once we started testing the Wi-Fi camera, the mobile app gave us a bit of trouble. Other IP cameras showed video right away, ip camera new but Flir FX didn’t, and it wasn’t immediately obvious how to get the live feed going. We adjusted some of the options and finally found video. The Flir app notifies you when motion or sound triggers the camera, which can be either useful or annoying, depending on how well the smart zones feature works for you. The best IP cameras give you crisp and clear high-quality video, but the Belkin NetCam HD+’s video quality is uneven. In our testing, 720P HD IP Camera during the day with lights on in the room we were monitoring, this IP camera performed well enough, but it did not have the best clarity. The 720p video resolution can’t compete with the many internet cameras that have 1080p resolution. In low light, the video quality suffered a bit more but was still clear enough we could identify a person dozens of feet away from the camera. In total darkness, the Belkin NetCam HD+ beat its competition in both range and clarity.

The camera’s audio was loud, but speech was unintelligible. We tested the two-way audio several times and still could not make out what was being said.
